  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 6 item
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • cake flour - 3 c
  • flavoring - 1 tsp
  • sticks butter or margarine - 3 item
  • can Carnation evaporated milk - 1 item

How to make old fashioned pound cake:

Allow butter or margarine to soften at room temperature. Combine sugar, butter and eggs in a large mixing bowl. Beat until mixture is smooth and creamy. Alternate, adding small amounts of the cake flour and the milk and beat after each addition. Add a dash of salt and the flavoring. Continue beating the mixture until it is smooth and creamy. The mixture will look like softened ice cream. (Do not overmix.) Cook in a tube pan at 350° for 1 1/2 hours. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from the pan.
