Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 1 c
- water - 1/4 c
- cocoa - 5 Tbsp
- dash of salt - 1 item
- plain flour - 2 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- margarine - 1 tsp
- sifted confectioners sugar - 1 c
- sticks butter or margarine - 2 item
- self-rising flour* - 1 c
- Cream butter, Crisco and sugar until fluffy
How to make chocolate pound cake:
*If use all plain flour, add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.Cream butter, Crisco and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add cocoa to flour; add flour and milk alternately, beginning and ending with flour. Bake at 325° to 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Freezes well.German Sweet Chocolate Glaze:1 bar German sweet chocolate1 tsp. margarine1/4 c. water1 c. sifted confectioners sugar dash of salt1/2 tsp. vanilla Melt chocolate and margarine in water over low heat. Mix sugar and salt. Blend in chocolate and add vanilla. For a thinner glaze, add a small amount of hot water. Makes about 3/4 cup.
