Okra fritters
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- evaporated milk - 1/2 c
- vegetable oil - 2/3 lb
- all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
- grated Parmesan cheese - 2 Tbsp
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- finely chopped onion - 1/2 c
- red pepper - 1/4 tsp
- corn meal - 1/4 c
- large egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
- sliced fresh okra - 2 c
How to make okra fritters:
Combine first 9 ingredients. Stir in okra. Pour oil to a depth of 2-inches in a Dutch oven. Heat to 350°. Drop mixture by tablespoons into oil. Cook until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt if desired. Serve immediately. Serves 4 to 6.Recipe categories: Grains, Vegetables, Pasta, rice and grains.
