  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • water - 1/4 c
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • firmly packed brown sugar - 1 c
  • flour, sifted - 1 c
  • white sugar - 1/2 c
  • soft shortening - 3/4 c
  • seedless raisins - 1 c
  • uncooked oats - 3 c

How to make oatmeal raisin drop cookies:

Combine and mix flour, salt, soda, water and cinnamon. Stir in oatmeal; reserve. Beat shortening and sugar together until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, raisins and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 350° oven until done and brown, 12 to 14 minutes. Yields about 5 1/2 dozen cookies about 2 1/2-inches in diameter.
