  • oatmeal - 1 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • boiling water
  • eggs - 2 item
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • white sugar - 1 c
  • flour
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp

  • cocoa heaping - 1 Tbsp
  • Karo syrup - 1 Tbsp

How to make oatmeal cake:

Put the oatmeal in mixing bowl. Add butter and boiling water. Let stand 20 minutes. Stir until all oatmeal is wet. Add the eggs, brown sugar and white sugar. Sift the flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Sift this into the first mixture. Mix well and put in a 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350°.Frosting:1 c. brown sugar4 Tbsp. milk1 c. coconut and nuts Boil the brown sugar and milk 1 minute. Add the coconut and nuts. Let stand. Spread on cake when taken from oven. Let cool.Chocolate Frosting:1 1/2 c. sugar1 Tbsp. cocoa (heaping)1 Tbsp. Karo syrup1 c. milk salt Cook to soft ball. Add butter and vanilla.
