Oatmeal cake

Ingredients/Components

• quick oatmeal - 1 c
• boiling water
• stick margarine - 1 item
• sugar - 1 c
• brown sugar - 1 c
• beaten eggs - 2 item
• sifted flour
• soda - 1 tsp
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• chopped nuts
• margarine - 2/3 c
• milk - 3 Tbsp
• coconut - 1 c
• vanilla - 1 tsp

How to make oatmeal cake:

Topping:1 c. chopped nuts2/3 c. margarine3 Tbsp. milk1/2 c. sugar1 c. coconut1 tsp. vanilla Mix oatmeal, boiling water and margarine; let stand 20 minutes. Add sugars, eggs, flour, soda and salt to oatmeal mixture. Bake in greased 9 x 13-inch pan at 375° for 35 minutes.

Cook topping ingredients on slow heat, stirring constantly for 7 minutes. Spread on cake. Put under broiler (450°) for 3 minutes.
