Ingredients/Components
- quick oatmeal - 1 c
- boiling water
- stick margarine - 1 item
- sugar - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- beaten eggs - 2 item
- sifted flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts
- margarine - 2/3 c
- milk - 3 Tbsp
- coconut - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
How to make oatmeal cake:
Topping:1 c. chopped nuts2/3 c. margarine3 Tbsp. milk1/2 c. sugar1 c. coconut1 tsp. vanilla Mix oatmeal, boiling water and margarine; let stand 20 minutes. Add sugars, eggs, flour, soda and salt to oatmeal mixture. Bake in greased 9 x 13-inch pan at 375° for 35 minutes.Cook topping ingredients on slow heat, stirring constantly for 7 minutes. Spread on cake. Put under broiler (450°) for 3 minutes.
