  • half and half - 3 Tbsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • coconut - 3/4 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • nuts, chopped - 1/2 c
  • white sugar - 1 c
  • regular oatmeal - 1 c
  • salt, cinnamon and nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • Cream the shortening and sugars

How to make oatmeal cake:

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and cool. Cream the shortening and sugars. Add eggs and cooled oatmeal. Add sifted dry ingredients and vanilla. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.Icing:1/4 c. butter1/2 c. brown sugar3 Tbsp. h
