Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water
- shortening - 1/2 c
- margarine - 4 Tbsp
- cream - 1/2 c
- white sugar - 1 c
- quick cooking oats - 1 c
- Let stand 20 minutes
How to make oatmeal cake:
Pour boiling water over oats. Let stand 20 minutes. Cream shortening, white sugar and brown sugar. Mix with oats. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift together and add to mixture flour, soda, cinnamon and salt. Bake in 9 x 14-inch pan for 25 minutes at 350°, then put on topping.Topping:1 c. brown sugar1/2 c. cream1 c. coconut4 Tbsp. margarine Mix and put on top of cake.
