Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp
  • mushrooms, finely chopped - 1/2 lb
  • finely chopped chives - 2 tsp
  • half and half coffee cream - 1 c
  • box cornflake crumbs - 1 item
  • loaf white bread, with crusts removed - 1/2 item

How to make mushroom rolls:

Saute mushrooms in butter for 5 minutes. Cool and add flour. Blend well and add salt. Stir in cream and blend. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Add lemon juice and chives. Cool. Roll slices of bread flat and spread mixture on bread as for jelly roll. Freeze lightly, then cut into thirds. Dip in melted butter and crushed cornflake crumbs. Bake for 10 minutes at 400° until light brown.
