  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • molasses - 1 c
  • plain flour - 3 c
  • Crisco - 1 c
  • ginger and other spices to taste - 1 item

How to make molasses cake:

Mix Crisco, sugar and molasses. Sift flour, soda and salt. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Add spices and vanilla. Bake in layer pans. Frost with favorite frosting.
