  • cocoa - 1/3 c
  • shortening - 1 c
  • box confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • pecans - 1 c
  • marshmallows - 1 pkg
  • Add eggs and beat

How to make mississippi mud cake:

Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and beat. Sift flour and salt. Combine cocoa. Add to sugar mixture. Add nuts and vanilla. Pour into greased 13 1/2 x 9 1/2-inch pan. Bake 30 minutes at 300°. Remove from oven and cover with marshmallows. Return to oven about 10 minutes to melt marshmallows. Then ice with frosting.Mississippi Mud Frosting:1 1/2 sticks margarine, melted1/3 c. cocoa1 box confectioners sugar1/3 c. evaporated milk1 tsp. vanilla1 c. pecans Sift sugar and cocoa; mix with margarine. Add milk, vanilla and nuts. Spread on cake. Let stand 2 hours before serving.
