  • shortening - 1 c
  • plain flour
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • vanilla - 3 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • pkg - 1 1/2
  • Add eggs and beat
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • evaporated milk - 1/2 c
  • pecans - 1 c

How to make mississippi mud cake:

Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat. Sift together flour, cocoa and salt; add to mixture. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 300° for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and spread marshmallows evenly over cake. Return to oven to melt marshmallows, about 10 minutes. Cool for short time.Icing:1 1/2 sticks oleo1 tsp. vanilla1 box powdered sugar1/2 c. evaporated milk1/2 c. cocoa1 c. pecans Sift together sugar and cocoa. Mix with melted oleo. Add milk, vanilla and nuts. Spread on cake.
