German sweet chocolate cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- evaporated milk
- egg yolks - 4 item
- coconut
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- slightly beaten egg yolks - 3 item
- egg whites, stiffly beaten - 4 item
How to make german sweet chocolate cake:
Frosting:1 c. evaporated milk1 c. sugar3 slightly beaten egg yolks1/2 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla1 1/3 c. coconut1 c. chopped pecans Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add yolks, one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in vanilla and chocolate. Sift flour with soda and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating after each addition until smooth. Fold in beaten whites. Pour into three 9-inch layer pans. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool some and put the frosting on the cake while still slightly warm.Frosting: Combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter and vanilla. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, about 12 minutes. Add coconut and pecans. Make a double recipe if you want to frost the sides.
