Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • chocolate chips
  • cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
  • egg whites at room temperature - 2 item
  • flavoring - 1 tsp

How to make meringue puffs:

Beat egg whites and salt, adding sugar a little at a time. Beat until mixture is very stiff. Add cream of tartar and fold in chocolate chips and flavoring. Preheat oven to 375° for 15 minutes. Drop cookies on ungreased cookie sheets. Turn off oven. Put cookies in oven and leave overnight or at least 6 hours. (Do not open oven.) Makes about 3 dozen.
