Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • honey - 1 Tbsp
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • basil - 2 tsp
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • olive oil - 2 3
  • black pepper - 3 tsp
  • stalks celery, chopped - 2 item
  • can tomatoes - 1 oz
  • thyme - 1 tsp
  • medium bell pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • medium zucchini, diced - 1 item
  • to 3 tomatoes, chopped - 2 item
  • to 5 cloves garlic, minced - 4 item
  • white onion, chopped - 1 item
  • fresh minced parsley - 1/4 c
  • mushrooms, chopped - 1 lb
  • handful fresh basil leaves, chopped - 1 item

How to make marinara sauce:

Heat olive oil in Dutch oven. Add onion, bell pepper, celery, mushrooms, zucchini, fresh tomatoes, herbs and salt. Saute over medium heat until onion is soft; add can of tomatoes, tomato paste, honey and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then simmer partially covered for about 30 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 10 minutes. Add parsley last.
