Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
- mayonnaise - 2 c
- thinly sliced celery - 1 item
- seasoned salt - 1 tsp
- head lettuce - 1 item
- thinly sliced green onions - 1/2 c
- crumbled bacon - 1/2 3/4
- can thinly sliced water chestnuts - 1 oz
- chopped eggs optional - 3 item
How to make layered salad:
Shred a head of lettuce in a large shallow bowl or glass baking dish. Layer each of the following in order: onions, celery, water chestnuts and peas. Spread mayonnaise over all. Sprinkle with sugar, Parmesan cheese, seasoned salt and garlic powder. Chill overnight (24 hours).Prior to serving, sprinkle with chopped eggs and crumbled bacon. Garnish with tomatoes. Serve by going to bottom. Good leftover (lettuce stays crisp). Serves 10 to 12 large servings.
Note: No-fat yogurt and lemon juice (or other salad dressing) can be substituted for mayonnaise.
