Ingredients/Components
- can sweetened condensed milk - 1 item
- lime juice fresh or concentrate - 1/2 c
- baked pastry shell - 1 item
- egg yolks - 4 item
- egg white, stiffly beaten - 1 item
- meringue - 1 item
- Fold into condensed milk, egg yolks and lime juice
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- sugar - 6 Tbsp
How to make key lime pie:
Beat 1 egg white until stiff. Fold into condensed milk, egg yolks and lime juice. Put lime mixture into baked pastry shell. Top lime mixture with meringue. Bake at 350° for about 15 minutes until egg whites are golden brown.Meringue:3 egg whites, beaten1/2 tsp. cream of tartar6 Tbsp. sugar Beat egg whites and gradually add sugar and cream of tartar.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
