  • egg whites, stiffly beaten - 5 item
  • c sugar - 2 item
  • c flour - 2 item
  • c shortening - 1/2 item
  • c buttermilk - 1 item
  • c chopped pecans - 1 item
  • t vanilla - 1 item
  • t soda - 1 item
  • lb margarine - 1/4 item
  • sm can chopped coconut - 1 item

How to make italian creme cake:

Combine buttermilk and soda and let stand for a few minutes. Cream together sugar, margarine, and shortening. Add egg yolks one at a time. Add flour alternately with buttermilk mixture. Fold in vanilla, eggs whites, pecans and coconut. Bake at 325 degrees for approximately 25-30 in 3 greased pans.
