- sugar
- cream cheese - 8 oz
- eggs - 6 item
- vanilla - 3/4 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- coconut - 2 c
- soda - 3/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- powdered sugar - 4 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- pecans - 1 c
- maraschino cherries - 1/2 c
- Add egg yolks one at a time
How to make italian cream cake:
Cream margarine, butter and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time. Add buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients ending with flour. Add cherries, pecans, vanilla and coconut. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and fold in. Bake at 350° in three 9-inch greased layer pans for 30 to 40 minutes.Cream Cheese Frosting:1/2 c. butter8 oz. cream cheese4 c. powdered sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla1 c. pecans Cream butter, cream cheese and powdered sugar together.
