Ingredients/Components
- medium eggs - 4 item
- butter - 1 c
- sugar
- milk - 1/2 c
- anise* - 2 tsp
- orange juice - 1/2 c
- flour - 5 6
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- Blend all ingredients
- Crisco - 1 Tbsp
- powdered sugar - 1 item
How to make italian cookies:
*Vanilla or lemon flavoring may be substituted for anise.Blend all ingredients. When dough is easy to handle, take a small portion of dough. Roll in your hands to form a cigar-like piece of dough. Twist one end over the other and place each cookie on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes. Do not let tops brown. When you remove cookies from the oven, brush icing over each cookie.Icing:1 1/2 tsp. anise or other flavoring1 Tbsp. Crisco milk powdered sugar Combine Crisco and anise or other flavoring. Add milk and powdered sugar to make a thin paste.
