Irish stew
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- water - 2 c
- cooking oil - 1 Tbsp
- bay leaf - 1 item
- medium onion, diced - 1 item
- carrots, sliced - 3 item
- bacon drippings - 1 Tbsp
- beef - 1 lb
- lamb - 1 lb
- parsley, chopped or 1 Tbsp - 3 Tbsp
- or 3 potatoes, diced - 2 item
- each: dried marjoram, thyme and celery seed - 1/2 tsp
How to make irish stew:
Place flour and salt in a plastic bag. Shake. Cut meat in 2-inch pieces. Add to mixture in the bag and shake well. Brown flour coated meat in bacon drippings and oil in a large pot. Add more oil if necessary. Add the water, vegetables and seasonings to the browned meat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about an hour.Recipe categories: Low sodium, Main dish, Stew.
