Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 1 item
  • all-purpose flour - 2 c
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/4 c
  • small bottle olive oil - 1 item

How to make indian fry bread:

Heat approximately 1/2 cup olive oil in a large heavy skillet over low to medium heat. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese and 1 teaspoon salt. Mix. Add water, about 2 tablespoons at a time, while stirring until mixture is sticky. Scrape out on floured surface. Knead in small amount of flour until slightly stiff.

Divide dough into 6 or 8 uniform balls. Pat out to approximately palm size on floured surface. Place in hot oil. Turn 1 time to brown approximately 1 minute on each side. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Don't crowd dough in skillet. Add additional oil as necessary.
