cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
salt - 1/4 tsp
brown sugar - 1 c
water - 2 Tbsp
nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
soda - 1/2 tsp
egg - 1 item
shortening - 1/2 c
plain flour
raisins - 1/2 c
cloves - 1/4 tsp
pecans or walnuts - 1/2 c
candied fruit - 3/4 c

How to make hermit cookies:

Cream shortening, brown sugar and egg. Mix together water, flour, salt, soda, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg; add to first mixture. Add remaining ingredients. Spoon out on cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes at 325°.
