Herb batter bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- active dry yeast - 1 pkg
- dried fines herbes, crushed - 1 tsp
How to make herb batter bread:
Combine 1 1/2 cups of the flour, the yeast and fines herbes. Heat together the water, butter or margarine, sugar and salt just until warm (115° to 120°), stirring until butter almost melts. Add to yeast mixture. Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in remaining flour. Cover; let rise until double. Stir down dough. Spread evenly in greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Cover; let rise until double. Bake in a 375° oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.
