Hawaiian meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- packed brown sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- cider vinegar - 3 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
- catsup - 1/4 c
- bread crumbs - 1/4 c
- can pineapple chunks - 1 oz
- onion, chopped fine - 1 item
- lean ground chuck - 2 lb
- or 2 green peppers, cut in strips - 1 item
- oil in skillet - 1/4 c
How to make hawaiian meatballs:
Combine ground chuck, eggs, crumbs, onion, salt and pepper in a bowl; mix. Shape into 1-inch balls. Brown in hot oil in skillet, turning to brown all sides. Remove meatballs (not thoroughly cooked). Reserve 2 tablespoons pan drippings in skillet. Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Add enough water to juice to measure 1 1/4 cups liquid mix. Mix cornstarch, 1/4 cup pineapple/water mixture, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar and catsup with reserved drippings in skillet. Simmer until thickened, stirring frequently. Add meatballs, pineapple chunks and green pepper. Simmer 20 minutes.Recipe categories: Appetizers, Chicken, Main dish.
