Ingredients/Components
- water - 3 qt
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- onion, chopped - 3/4 c
- salt to taste - 1 item
- celery, chopped - 1 c
- red pepper - 1/8 tsp
- carrots, chopped
- dry navy beans
- potatoes, chopped
- meaty ham bone - 1 item
How to make ham and bean soup:
Rinse beans. Place in a large pot with ham bone and water. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer until beans are tender, about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Remove bone and meat. When cooled, cut meat from bone and return to pot. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 30 minutes. Stir.Recipe categories: For large groups, < 15 mins, Soups & stews.
