Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • soda - 2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • molasses - 1/4 c
  • margarine - 1/4 c
  • ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • ground ginger - 1 tsp
  • butter flavor shortening - 1/2 c

How to make gingersnaps:

Cream the first 4 ingredients. Add egg; beat until fluffy. Sift together the remaining dry ingredients. Stir into molasses mixture. Chill dough at least 1 hour. Form into small balls; roll in sugar. Place, 2 inches apart, on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.
