  • sirloin steak, cut into strips - 1 lb
  • mushrooms, sliced - 1/2 lb
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • cooking oil - 2 Tbsp
  • soy sauce - 1/4 c
  • water - 1/4 c
  • cider vinegar - 2 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • ginger - 1/4 tsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • small onion, sliced - 1 item
  • medium green pepper, cut in strips - 1 item

How to make gingered pepper steak:

Place meat, mushrooms, garlic and oil in a 2-quart casserole. Cover with waxed paper. Microwave on High for 6 to 8 minutes, or until meat is no longer pink. Stir halfway through cooking.

Mix together soy sauce, water, vinegar, cornstarch, salt, ginger and pepper until smooth. Stir into meat mixture. Microwave on High for 5 to 6 minutes, or until thickened. Stir occasionally. Add onion and green pepper. Microwave on Low for 10 to 15 minutes to blend flavors. Vegetables will be tender.
