Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • salt
  • cider vinegar
  • celery seed - 1 tsp
  • shredded cabbage - 8 c
  • mustard seed
  • turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  • medium onions, finely chopped - 4 item
  • red bell pepper, finely chopped - 1 item
  • green bell peppers, finely chopped - 2 item

How to make german coleslaw:

Mix cabbage, bell peppers and onions in bowl. Combine vinegar and remaining ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Pour over cabbage mixture. Chill for 24 hours or longer. Yield: 12 cups.
