  • sugar
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 3 Tbsp
  • hot water - 3 Tbsp
  • finely chopped onion - 1 c
  • celery seed - 1/2 tsp
  • pinch of pepper - 1 item
  • finely shredded cabbage - 8 c
  • medium size green pepper, minced - 1/2 item

How to make german coleslaw:

Dressing:3 Tbsp. sugar3 Tbsp. hot water3 Tbsp. vinegar1/2 tsp. celery seed1/2 tsp. salt pinch of pepper1/2 c. vegetable oil Place cabbage, green pepper and onion in a large bowl and toss well to mix.

For the Dressing: Combine sugar and water, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Stir in vinegar, celery seed, salt and pepper. Pour over slaw and toss well. Drizzle in oil and toss well again. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator 2 to 3 hours. Toss well before serving.
