Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1/2 c
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • butter or margarine - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1/8 tsp
  • cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
  • flaked coconut
  • can evaporated milk - 1 oz
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 2 item
  • unbaked 9-inch deep dish pastry shell - 1 item

How to make german chocolate pie:

In saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Remove from heat and gradually blend in milk. Set aside.

In a bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Gradually stir in chocolate mixture. Pour into pastry shell.

Combine pecans and coconut. Sprinkle over filling. Bake at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes. Very rich and delicious. To dress the pie up, decorate with chocolate curls.
