German chocolate pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- flaked coconut
- large eggs - 2 item
- can evaporated milk - 1 oz
- unbaked 8-inch pastry shells - 2 item
- whipped cream and chocolate shavings garnishes - 1 item
How to make german chocolate pie:
Combine chocolate and butter in a saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring until chocolate melts. Remove from heat and gradually stir in milk; set aside. Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a bowl; add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Gradually stir in chocolate mixture using a wire whisk. Pour into pastry shells and sprinkle with coconut and pecans.
