  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cloves garlic - 2 item
  • chopped parsley - 1 tsp
  • freshly ground black pepper - 1 item
  • loaf French bread - 1 item
  • 1 stick butter - 1/2 lb
  • chopped, dried thyme and basil - 1 tsp

How to make garlic bread:

Crush the garlic with the salt to a smooth paste and put in a bowl with the pepper, butter and herbs; cream well. Cut the loaf along in 1-inch slices to within 1/2 inch of the bottom. Spread the slices on each side with the garlic butter and press together again. Wrap in foil.

To freeze, label and freeze. To cook, thaw at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours. Then heat in a moderately hot oven (400°) for 12 to 15 minutes, still in foil, until hot and crisp.
