Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • butter - 3 Tbsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • Karo syrup - 2 Tbsp
  • + 3 Tbsp - 1 c
  • Cream shortening and sugar
  • grated fresh coconut - 1 c
  • fresh coconut milk - 3 Tbsp
  • large coconut, drained, cracked, meat peeled off and grated - 1 item
  • egg yolks reserve whites for frosting - 3 item
  • Cook over medium heat 5 to 10 minutes or until thickened

How to make fresh coconut cake:

Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks, milk and vanilla. Add all dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with milk. Grease 9-inch cake pans. Bake at 350° until done.Filling (Between Layers):3/4
