  • packed brown sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • water - 1/4 c
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • vegetable shortening - 3/4 c
  • oats - 3 c
  • sugar and 1 egg - 1/2 c

How to make famous oatmeal cookies:

Beat together the shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla. Add rest. Can add chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
