Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- margarine, melted - 1/2 c
- boxes powdered sugar - 2 item
- box butter cake mix - 1 item
- stick margarine, softened - 1 item
- bottle red food coloring - 1 item
- Add vanilla, buttermilk, coloring, melted margarine and eggs
- to decorate top
How to make easy red velvet cake:
Mix cake mix with cocoa. Add vanilla, buttermilk, coloring, melted margarine and eggs. Blend until moistened. Add soda and vinegar; mix well. Bake in 3 greased and floured layer pans at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes, being careful not to overbake. Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.Cream Cheese Frosting:2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened1 stick margarine, softened2 boxes powdered sugar2 tsp. vanilla chopped walnuts (reserve 1/4 c. to decorate top) Beat cheese and margarine until smooth.
