  • sugar - 2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • egg whites - 2 item
  • white syrup - 1/2 c

How to make divinity:

In saucepan, mix first 4 ingredients. Slowly bring to a boil. Boil to hard ball stage.

Meanwhile, beat egg whites. Gradually pour hot syrup into egg whites, beating constantly. Beat until candy begins to hold shape. Beat in 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 teaspoon powdered sugar. Add 1/2 cup nuts, if desired. Drop by teaspoon on waxed paper. Let stand several hours.
