butter - 1/2 c
water - 4 Tbsp
soda - 1 tsp
cocoa - 3/4 c
egg whites - 2 item
dash of salt - 1 item
cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
sweet milk - 1 c
Add hot chocolate mixture to the mixture of eggs, butter, 1 cup sugar, flour and milk

How to make devil's food cake:

Mix cocoa, sweet milk and 1 cup sugar, boil 5 minutes. Add hot chocolate mixture to the mixture of eggs, butter, 1 cup sugar, flour and milk. Beat well before adding to chocolate mixture. Then beat again after adding to hot chocolate mixture. Dissolve soda in 3 tablespoons hot water. Then add salt and vanilla. Add together. Bake in 2 cake pans at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Frost with Devil's Food Cake 7-Minute Icing.Devil's Food Cake 7-Minute Icing:1 c. sugar2 egg whites4 Tbsp. water1/2 tsp. cream of tartar dash of salt1/2 tsp. vanilla Combine all ingredients except vanilla and beat well. Place over boiling water and beat 7 minutes. Remove from fire and beat until it forms peaks. Add vanilla.
