- sugar - 3/4 c
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- water - 3/4 c
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- baking soda
- shortening - 1/4 c
- chopped walnuts - 3/4 c
How to make date nut bread:
In a small saucepan bring water and shortening to a boil; pour over dates in bowl. Stand for 15 minutes. Stir. Add nuts, eggs and vanilla. In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, soda and salt. Stir into date mix. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 65 to 70 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Healthy.
