Dandelion wine



  • sugar - 3 lb
  • water - 4 qt
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • yeast cake - 1 item
  • lemons juice only - 4 item
  • oranges juice only - 2 item
  • dandelion blossoms - 2 qt

How to make dandelion wine:

Use stone crock. Put boiling water over flowers and let stand 1 1/2 days. Strain, add sugars and juices. Wait 24 hours, then add yeast cake. When scum rises add egg white. Wait 3 full days, strain.

This came from the Ozarks hills and was used when the stills were hidden in the Missouri Ozarks during the Depression days.
