Ingredients/Components
- dandelion flowers, freshly picked - 4 qt
- boiling water - 4 qt
- juice of 1 lemon
- rind of 1 lemon, sliced
- juice of 2 oranges
- rind of 2 oranges, sliced
- sugar - 4 lb
- yeast or 1/2 cake yeast - 1 Tbsp
How to make dandelion wine:
Pour boiling water over flowers. Let stand 24 hours. Drain flowers; boil liquid. Bring to a simmer for 20 minutes. When cool, add the lemon juice and rind. Add the orange juice and rind. Add sugar and yeast. Let stand one week, then strain and bottle, but do not put the cork in tight. Enjoy.An old Pennsylvania Dutch recipe from church cookbook.
