Ingredients/Components
- oil - 5 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- dry bread crumbs - 3 Tbsp
- turmeric - 1 tsp
- large onion - 1 item
- salt, divided - 2 tsp
- medium sized potatoes - 3 item
- finely ground lean beef - 1 lb
How to make cutlets:
Wash and boil the potatoes with 1 teaspoon salt until about half cooked. Drain; cool, then peel. In a large bowl, grate the onion and potatoes. Add the remaining ingredients. Mix thoroughly until a uniform texture is reached.In a large frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Shape mixture into 12 to 15 half-inch thick patties. Fry patties on each side, for about six minutes on each side, until brown. Serve hot or cold in pita bread.
