Creole gumbo
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1/2 c
- oil - 1/4 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 3 Tbsp
- catsup - 1/2 c
- clove garlic - 1 item
- stalk celery - 1 item
- red pepper flakes - 1/4 tsp
- can tomatoes - 1/2 item
- green pepper - 1 item
- shrimp - 1 lb
- large onion - 1 item
- fryer - 1 item
- cut okra - 1 lb
How to make creole gumbo:
Boil the chicken until tender. Remove meat from bones and cut in bite size pieces. Set aside. Make gravy with oil and flour in a large pot. Add chopped celery, onion, green pepper and garlic to gravy. Cook on low until tender. Fry okra until tender. Add to gravy mixture. Add chicken, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, catsup, tomatoes and pepper flakes. Simmer 3 hours. Add shrimp. Simmer 30 minutes longer. Add tablespoon of lemon juice, if desired.
