Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- margarine or butter - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- cooked vegetables * - 2 c
How to make creamed vegetables:
In medium saucepan, melt margarine. Blend in flour, salt and pepper; cook until mixture is smooth and bubbly, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk. Cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Stir in vegetables; cook until thoroughly heated. Yields 4 to 6 servings.Microwave Directions: In 4-cup microwave-safe measuring cup, microwave margarine on High for 30 seconds or until melted. Stir in flour, salt, pepper and milk until smooth. Microwave on High for 2 to 3 minutes or until slightly thickened and boiling, stirring once halfway through cooking. Stir in cooked vegetables. Microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
*Any one or more of the following vegetables can be used: cauliflower florets, peas, cubed or sliced potatoes, onion or carrot slices, spinach, asparagus or cabbage.
