Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 2 c
  • grated cheese - 1 c
  • cracker crumbs - 1 item
  • salt to taste - 1 item
  • cornstarch or flour - 3 Tbsp
  • red and black pepper to taste - 1 item
  • cheese strips - 1 item
  • block butter or oleo - 1 item
  • average size head cabbage - 1 item

How to make creamed cabbage:

Melt butter in pan. Add cornstarch or flour and stir. Slowly add milk; stir until thick and smooth. Set aside. Cut cabbage in two-inch pieces. Boil in salted water about 15 minutes, then drain. Set aside. Add grated cheese and seasoning to white sauce. Stir until cheese is melted.

In a casserole, alternate a layer of boiled cabbage with a layer of white sauce, until all is used, ending with white sauce. Top with cheese strips and cracker crumbs. Bake in 350° oven 25 to 30 minutes.
