Ingredients/Components

  • milk
  • all-purpose flour - 3 Tbsp
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • medium onion - 1/2 item
  • dried basil - 1/4 tsp
  • green pepper - 1/2 item
  • biscuits - 1 pkg
  • small stalk celery - 1 item
  • cubed cooked ham, chicken or turkey
  • cooked green beans, peas, corn or mixed vegetables - 2/3 c

How to make country casserole:

Chop celery, onion and green pepper. In a large saucepan, cook in margarine until all are tender. Stir in flour, basil and pepper. Add milk and cook until thickened and bubbly, then cook and stir 1 minute more. Stir in meat and vegetables. Pour into a 1-quart casserole. Cut biscuits into fourths. Place on mixture. Bake in a 400° oven for about 15 minutes or until brown.
