  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • oil - 5 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 1 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • flour, sifted - 2 c
  • egg yolk - 1 item
  • cottage cheese - 1 c
  • milk or buttermilk - 3 4
  • baking soda only if buttermilk used - 1/8 tsp

How to make cottage cheese rolls:

Preheat oven to 400°. Blend cottage cheese, egg, milk and oil in processor or by hand. Sift together dry ingredients and combine with cottage cheese mixture. Turn out on a floured board and knead until smooth. Shape into 8 to 10 rolls and place on greased baking sheet. Brush each roll with the undiluted egg yolk and slash the top with a sharp knife. Sprinkle the tops with the poppy seed or caraway seed. Bake 20 to 22 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.

Optional toppings: poppy seed or caraway seed.
