Cornbread dressing
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- butter - 1/2 lb
- chopped onion - 3 c
- chopped celery - 2 c
- slices bread - 6 item
- broth - 2 3
- hard-cooked eggs - 2 item
- 9-inch pans baked cornbread - 2 item
How to make cornbread dressing:
Saute onions and celery until yellow and limp. Crumple cornbread into the onion mixture. Tear bread into fine pieces and add to mixture. Add broth until mixture is moist, but loosely packed (about 1 1/2 to 2 cups). Add chopped hard-cooked eggs and slightly beaten eggs. Season with salt and pepper.* Pour into buttered baking dish. Cover with oil. Bake 45 minutes at 325°.*May add 2 teaspoons salt and pepper, 2 teaspoons sage, 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning and sausage, crumbled and fried.
