Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder
- chocolate chips - 1 pkg
- shortening - 2/3 c
- sifted flour
- nut meats - 1 c
- brown sugar 1 pkg
How to make congo squares:
Use large saucepan. Melt shortening; add brown sugar. When cool, add eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients. If mixture is too stiff to stir, add 1/4 cup milk. Add nut meats, chips and vanilla. The mixture will be fairly stiff. Spread on greased cookie sheet or in pan (10 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 3/4-inch). Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
