Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- pkg - 6 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar
- baking powder
- shortening or oleo - 3/4 c
- broken nuts - 1 c
How to make congo squares:
Melt the shortening in a large saucepan. Add brown sugar and mix well; cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the flour mixture to the mixture in the saucepan; mix well. Add broken nuts and chocolate morsels. Pour into 2 greased pans (7 1/2 x 11 x 1 1/2). Bake at 325° to 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
